Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? As a baby, I had just woken up in my crib. I stood up and was hanging onto the banister of the crib watching my mother in the kitchen, which was in sight of my bedroom. She couldn’t see me, and I didn’t make any noise, I was just watching her. She was playing music, cooking breakfast, and cleaning the kitchen. After a couple of minutes, she saw me and came and picked me up and kissed me. And the memory ends there. It is my oldest memory and my only memory of my infancy, which makes it so special to me and my most memorable childhood experience.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify most with my mother. To me, she is the embodiment of love and friendship. I have never met anyone like her, and I strive to be as good a parent and friend to my daughter as she was to me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire people who possess honesty, accountability, ambition, and kindness.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I was having a bad day. It was just one of those days where I was tired, and every little thing annoyed me and seemed greater in proportion than it actually was. I was on my way to work but had to stop to drop something off to a friend. I was on the freeway, which has many bends and swerves, and I had my favorite drink lying in the passenger seat. I really look forward to this drink every day and was especially excited to have it on my lunch break that day with some food from a new neighboring restaurant. While I was turning on one of the swerves, the drink rolled in between the passenger seat and door. I thought nothing of it and just left it there. When I arrived at my friend’s place, I started to open the window to hand her what I was dropping off, but for some reason instead unlocked all the doors. She heard the unlocking and opened the passenger door and my favorite drink which was in a glass container flies onto the concrete and shatters. I was so upset at myself that I just dropped my head in silence and defeat. As I was on my way to work sulking, I thought about the whole scenario again and just started to burst out laughing. I couldn’t stop laughing, thinking about all the people’s reactions who saw what happened and my strange drink on the curb. I was in tears laughing all the way to work, having realized there is such a very thin line between comedy and pain.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would go on a tour to see the Seven Wonders of the World. I think experiencing these monuments would be very profound for me at this point in my life because I would really appreciate their inherent beauty. I would also like to dine at the best restaurants across the world, simply because I love food.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on the value of having a legacy. I want my children to pursue whatever path in life they want, I just would like them to give as much passion as they can to whatever their interest is and to try and leave a legacy they can pass on in that pursuit.
