Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experiences are those of time spent at my grandparents' houses during the summer. I took long walks through the woods with my grandfather, who would teach me the names of the trees. I would spend some days with my grandmother, going to the pool and feeding ducks by the river.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?Honestly, I don't closely identify with any immediate family member. I am very much like my mother's brother though, because we are both fairly introspective, have a strong connection to the outdoors, and have spent our youth traveling.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?Above all I admire honesty. Close second is empathy, and right behind that is humor.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?No single incident stands out in my mind. I find humor in so many things it's hard to single out any one moment. The giggles shared before lights out at summer camps and sleepovers may be the high water mark.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?Time and money are not an issue in regard to my traveling. I choose to wander around the North American west from Canada to Mexico because of the bucolic landscapes, a large collection of friends, and the diverse communities.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?Ideally, I would like to pass on a love and empathy for the world and a relative understanding of life through affection and example. In practice you can only hope for the best.
