Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was winning the little league baseball championship. My little brother was on the team with me. Not only did we win the championship that year, but our team went undefeated. My father was stationed at that time at a base that was near to both sides of our family (maternal and fraternal) and so I was able to enjoy a sport that I loved and was surrounded by the people I love. That experience let me know what it's like to have the strong support of family. The entire season made a lasting impact on me, and it is something we all remember and talk about to this day.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?The immediate family member I most closely identify with is my mother. My mother is what a lot of people call a busybody. She always has to be occupied with something. I am the exact same way. I feel there is nearly always something to be involved with or worked on. It has become a way of life and doesn't cause either me or my mother any stress. It's because of this shared characteristic that she is the immediate family member I most closely identify with.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire the following character traits of individuals: honest, happy, sincere, patient, adventurous, optimistic and funny.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I think the funniest thing to happen to me was having a surprise birthday party sprung on me while in college. My birthday had come and it seemed that everyone had forgotten about it. The day progressed, and things still were not going as I hoped. After class, I went by my girlfriend's room to visit, and began to complain and complain about how no one even bothered to celebrate my special day. Little did I know that as I sat in my girlfriend's room complaining, my friends were gathering in the common area of her dorm suite. Eventually we made our way to the common area I was surprised by all of my friends. They had all been listening to me complain about each and every one of them. We still laugh and joke about that day.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue, I would like to travel to Africa (I haven't determined which countries yet), as well as various other corners of the world. I choose Africa because it's the place of origin of mankind. Africa has so much to see and experience that it would be a life-changing experience for me. I would want to travel to all of the various corners of the world because I would like to experience as many cultures as possible.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass my recollections of my lifetime experiences on to my children, giving them a glimpse into history as I saw it. I love photography, and I would also pass on the photographs that I have taken. Passing on my experiences, both through my personal account and through my photographs, are hopefully sentimental things that my kids would someday pass on to their children as well.
