Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was when I was around seven years old. I was at my grandparents' house, and my entire family and extended family were there. The exact details of that day are fuzzy to me now, but what I vividly remember from then are my feelings. The memory is a bright and warm one, and I remember being surrounded by laughter, happiness, and all the people who I loved and who loved me. Even though I don't remember what happened that day, it's one of the happiest memories I have, and I will continue to cherish it for the rest of my life.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?Out of my immediate family members, I most closely identify with my father. He is one of the smartest and most compassionate people I have ever met, and has always been my biggest supporter, never doubting me even once. Whenever we talk, we have great conversations, and he teaches me so much about the world and always makes sure to let me know how important I am in the world, and makes me feel like I can accomplish anything I want. My father is the man I respect the most in the world, and my biggest, if not only, goal in life is to always see a smile on his face, and make him proud of me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual? The character traits I admire most in an individual are intelligence, loyalty, and humility. I greatly respect intelligence, and like to surround myself with people who are thinkers and continue to ask questions about the world. I also respect humility in the same people because it shows the individual being down-to-earth, thereby making their other qualities all the more respectable. And finally, I think having people in your life that you can depend on at any time is one of the greatest gifts, and so, I deem loyalty to be one of the greatest assets in a person and in a friend.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?One of the funniest things that happened to me was when I was in high school. My friends and I were driving over to another friend's house and we had the windows down, and were listening to the radio and singing along and just having a good time. Then, Taylor Swift's "Love Story" comes on. Now, we were four teenage boys, and it was universally understood that for us, listening to Taylor Swift was practically taboo. So when the song comes on, we all look at each other, and then, simultaneously and shamelessly, start singing along at the top of our lungs, because we all secretly knew every line. As we come up to a red light, we're still screaming our heads off, and two of the most macho looking guys ever come to a stop next to us, and just stare at us like we're the craziest people to have ever been born. We all immediately shut up but the song still keeps going in the background, and everyone in the car was feeling pretty embarrassed. Then, out of nowhere, the guys in the other car started screaming along to the lyrics, and then we all just burst out laughing. We then started singing along with the other guys, and it was probably one of the most random and hilarious encounters I've ever had.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?If time and money were not an issue, I would want to travel through all of Europe. This would be a spontaneous trip without any plans or destinations, and I would just drive wherever I felt like going. Every day would be a surprise, and I would have no idea where my life would take me. This would be my ideal travel plan for multiple reasons. First of all, Europe is a vast continent filled with a rich and lush history, and many different kinds of people, all of them with their own stories. There is so much to see and to learn and to do, that I would never get bored. My second reason is that in our time and age, people are always worried about what they need to do, and are constantly preoccupied with the Future. I want to just let go of all those worries, and want to live in the Now. I would love to let everything go, and be spontaneous and just enjoy every day while traveling through the tremendous expanse of Europe.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? When I have children, I want to pass on my intelligence, my persistence, and my kindness. I want my children to be even smarter than I am and to succeed and make a positive contribution to the world regardless of the challenges they come across. I also want them to be good people and live happy, fulfilling lives. I believe that good things happen to good people, and a little kindness goes a long way. I want to impart this to my children and teach them to lead lives that they will be content with.
