Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? The most memorable experience for me was when I was about ten years old and my parents took me and my brothers to Mount Rushmore.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify with my twin brother. Growing up he was the one person that I was 100% sure would always have my back and support me in whatever I did. And he would get the same from me.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I would say that honesty, loyalty, compassion are the most admirable, and a sense of humor doesn't hurt.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was about thirteen my mother told me that I had to clean the ice out of the rain gutters in the middle of winter. It's snowing, cold and windy and I'm outside in my coat with a hammer. I'm up on the roof of the house, banging on a gutter that is solid ice while my mom was telling me, "Don't you damage my rain gutters." And "Please be careful." Considering she was the one who put me up there in the first place I was beginning to think my safety was a secondary concern to her. So I climbed down when she wasn't looking, got a broom, duct tape, and some old winter gear. I went back up to the roof and taped the clothes all around the broom so it looked like a person. Then I called her out, "Mom, I need you to come out here, I think I might have dented something." She comes to the door and just as she sticks her head out I scream, "I'm slipping!" Then I threw the makeshift dummy off the roof to the ground below. The look on her face was shock, horror, and then, anger...mostly anger. My brothers and I thought it was the funniest thing we'd ever seen.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would travel to Ireland because it's part of my heritage and also home to the Bushmills whiskey distillery which is my favorite whiskey. Next I'd go to Japan because I have friends there and it was a blast the last time I was there and it gives me a chance to practice my Japanese.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?No idea. The only thing that comes to mind is that I would try to take an interest in the things that they are passionate about (even if I didn't fully understand them) and hope they would do the same with their children.
