Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience was playing sports and competing alongside my father. We are both very passionate about sports and competition. During my childhood we were always involved in some kind of sport, whether it be playing volleyball together in tournaments or my parents watching me compete in individual sports like golf. Either way, those times spent together practicing or playing were my most memorable childhood experiences.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I most closely identify with my father. We have been told we are carbon copies of each other. We have the same values and beliefs, sense of humor, and personality. Like him, I strive to be the best husband and father that I can be. Also like him, I try to lead my life in an honest and respectful way.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty and integrity. A person with character is a person who does the right thing even when others aren't around. I admire someone who does selfless acts without the expectation of praise or recognition.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I've had plenty of funny moments in my lifetime. One thing that is pretty funny now, looking back, happened when I was in first grade in school. My sister was one grade lower than I was and my dad took us to get registered for our upcoming school year. On the first day of class, we had accidentally been switched into each other's classrooms. I thought I had done something wrong because I was back in the same grade I had been the previous year. As the day went on someone finally figured out the mistake and we all had a good laugh over it. We still have a good laugh about it at my expense to this day.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?My wife and I have a goal of taking our children to many different parts of the country and the world. We feel it is very important for our children to grow up experiencing other people and their cultures to give them a broader view of the world in general. Growing up and staying in one place gives you a narrow view of certain things because you only experience what is immediately around you. This is why we feel strongly about wanting to travel to various places both nationally and globally.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I hope to pass on to them a good set of values and beliefs. I feel that I was raised with strong values and beliefs that made me the person I am today. I want my children to have the same confidence in themselves that I do, because of a good upbringing that I hope to be able to provide.
