Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience is making the All Star team in baseball when I was ten years old. We got to play in a tournament where teams from all over the United States came to play. I had a great time and it was an honor to be named to the team. I also vividly remember when my grandpa died. I remember getting the call from my aunt and then having to go find my mom to tell her the news. I'll never forget the profound sadness I felt at the time, and how much I missed him when he passed away.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?My younger brother is who I identify with the most because we grew up together and we are close in age. I greatly admire him as a helicopter pilot in the Army National Guard, currently deployed in Afghanistan. He is my best friend and he understands every joke or dumb movie/tv show reference I make.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty and trustworthiness in a person. A good communicator is also very admirable in my opinion. I also think that if you are able to look at both sides of an issue it makes you that much better of a person. A willingness to have an open mind about everything will only help a person throughout life.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? When I was in the Las Vegas airport I accidentally went into the women's bathroom, did my business and only after I was done did I think it was odd that there were no urinal toilets and then I heard women talking. I ran out and some lady called me a pervert. I was scared, but thankfully my flight was leaving soon after that happened.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I have always wanted to travel to Australia and New Zealand. They look like interesting places, with many things to see and do. I think visiting the beaches and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia would be amazing. Taking a helicopter ride over New Zealand would probably blow my mind.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?If I were to have children I would want them to be their own person, first and foremost. Do what you want to do and what makes you happy, life is too short not to. Have an open mind about everything; there is usually more than one way to accomplish things. I would also want them to be respectful and kind. Sometimes I feel like those two things are waning in today's society and it would be important to me to instill that in my children.
