What is your most memorable childhood experience? | My most memorable childhood experience would have to be when I first learned how to ride a bicycle. After using training wheels for several weeks, my parents began to help me ride without them. This started to work but ended in disaster. Unaccustomed to the mechanics of a bicycle, I found that it was much harder to keep balance at slow speeds. After falling, my parents immediately panicked. However, it did not take me long to figure it out and I soon developed a way to ride the bicycle without falling off. |
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why? | I identify most closely with my dad as we are both analytically minded. To be fair, I was heavily influenced by him as he tried to teach me math long before it was addressed in my formal education. As I progress through school, I find that I have been able to identify more and more with my dad with regard to love for the math and sciences. |
What character traits do you admire in an individual? | Above all, I admire personal integrity. And by this I don't mean the popularized definition of those who accept societal norms as a moral standard. I mean those who do not waver when faced with consequence. To be specific, I admire those who act upon what they believe is right, despite the ramifications that they might face as a result. |
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you? | I was in school, and I had fallen asleep during my chemistry class. I had a bad dream and woke up very violently. I shook real hard and my books flew off my desk onto the floor with a loud BANG. The girl in front of me screamed at the top of her lungs because it startled her so much. It was a pretty amusing situation. |
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why? | Most likely, I would travel to Japan as it is also a highly industrialized country, but differs significantly from the Western world. I think I would find the cultural contrast to be extremely fascinating, as well as the fact that the country is vastly different geographically from America. |
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them? | If anything, I would want to pass on my inquisitive nature about the world. I find that only with the willingness to expand the mind can one find a passion in life worth dedicating a lifetime towards. |
