Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable childhood experience is a montage of all the trips my parents took me, my brother, and my friends on. We went everywhere and did just about anything you can think of. I experienced so many things that I could never pick just one.The outdoor activities and traveling we did would be the best experiences I've had.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I relate mostly to my dad. He and I share a lot of the same traits and the same way of thinking about the world. I see in myself so many things that I see in him. Our strengths and weaknesses always give us interesting ways to talk to each other.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty, politeness, and the ability to stand by what you believe, without being so inflexible that you can't see the other person's point of view even if you think it's wrong. I admire balance in all things, especially in the way people act. I feel that the biggest problems are always the people that are not willing to be open-minded.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I don't think I could choose just one. I once hit my golf ball within 2 feet of an alligator, and then almost stepped on him. There was also the time, as an EMT when the people I worked with armor alled my bench seat in the back of the unit. We stopped suddenly and I went flying into the front wall of the unit. This, of course, was mostly funny in retrospect.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I dream about this every other minute. I would buy a 60 foot sailboat, center cockpit, rigged for single handling (but easily handled by a small crew), and I would travel the world. I would go everywhere, Japan, Australia, Europe, Hawaii, Fiji, New Zealand, Africa, Iceland, you name it, and I want to go.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?I would like to pass on my values, my ability to consider all the possibilities and then choose what is best for me and for those that I love without any regrets, and most importantly my open-mindedness.
