Essay Questions

What is your most memorable childhood experience? My most memorable experience as a child is the day that I got my first pet. I remember that I went to one of my mother's friend's houses and I was young enough not to know who this person was. I was presented with a litter of kittens and found the one I wanted instantly. We were inseparable for weeks afterwards.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?I identify most with my father because we are very much alike. Everyone says that I look just like he did when he was my age. I think very much like he does. We have similar opinions and interests, and I consider him to be a good role model in my life. I would be lucky to be half the man that he is.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?I admire honesty, loyalty, and a sense of humor above most other traits. A person need not be intelligent, so long as they are honest with themselves and others about it. A person needs to be hardworking, as this is being honest with one's self and loyal to their colleagues. A sense of humor allows one to take life in stride and not stress about everything, because life will throw many twists at you and sometimes all you can do is laugh.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?I can't help but laugh whenever I watch one of my mother's cats tear around the house. They'll be chasing after each other, and one will go from running on carpet to running on tile, and they'll slide sideways because they can't grip the tile with their claws. Meanwhile, the other cat will catch up to the first, and the two would tumble side by side onto the next section of carpet and promptly take off again. Hilarious.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?I would go to Alaska on a cruise. I have always wanted to visit Alaska, either in the summer or winter. I am curious as to what a full day of sunshine or night would be like. I have also heard wonderful things about the scenery and the environment in Alaska. I have wanted to travel to Alaska since I was a child, and I would go there if there were no financial or time constraints.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?If I were to have children, the most important value I would pass on to them would be responsibility. It doesn't matter what you want to do, if you take responsibility for your actions, you will never do a bad job. Doing a bad job would reflect poorly on you and who you are as a person. I have learned this lesson from my father, and I would pass it on to my children. I feel that putting one's name next to one's actions is one of the highest virtues you can achieve.
